Scenario:
A large international Movie company has decided all Dutch actors should have a private network for communications. Budgets are tight so you only have access to a couple of old routers that support RIP version 2 or 1. Can you configure this network to get things going?
Goal:
- All IP addresses have been preconfigured for you.
- Every router has a loopback0 interface:
Hauer: 1.1.1.1 /24
vanHouten: 2.2.2.2 /24
Janssen: 3.3.3.3 /24 - Configure RIP version 2 on router Hauer.
- Configure RIP version 1 on router vanHouten.
- Configure RIP version 2 on router Janssen.
- Ensure you have full connectivity.
It took me 1000s of hours reading books and doing labs, making mistakes over and over again until I mastered all the protocols for CCNA.
Would you like to be a master of networking too? In a short time without having to read 900 page books or google the answers to your questions and browsing through forums?
I collected all my knowledge and created a single book for you that has everything you need to know to become a master of CCNA.
You will learn all the secrets about RIP, version 1 VS version 2 and more.
Does this sound interesting to you? Take a look here and let me show you how to Master CCNA!

There is one more way to solve this scenario. As we all know V2 understands V1 but it doesn’t work another way. So, to save some precious seconds it is enough to configure vanHauten’s interfaces to receive version 2 updates.
Cheers
Hi Sheff,
That’s correct. You can configure the interface to send and/or receive both RIPv1 and RIPv2 messages. Thanks for sharing this!

Give default version command on every router….
